Texas Heatwave 2008 - The Place To Debut Custom Trucks

Texas Heatwave is held just outside of Austin, and has proven to be the place to debut custom trucks. We showed up early to get the scoop on Ricky Holly's truck that debuted at the show on Saturday to shoot last issue's cover, and stuck around for the show's festivities. As usual, the weather was stifling, but truck owners and spectators weren't deterred. Vendors were out in force and were rewarded by lots of foot traffic. There is one downside to having a show filled with awesome trucks that need to get featured in the magazine. We were so busy with the trucks we had to shoot we had no time to cover the bikini contest. For that, I apologize. Here's what you missed:

	Nitto Tires rolled out in their semi. Brandon Naivar's Silverado was sporting a fresh set of Mud Grapplers.
The burnout contest was a big hit, as dozens of tires were sacrificed for the spectacle.	There's a Super Duty diesel somewhere behind that cloud.
Bill Carlton rolled out some of Ekstensive Metalworks's latest creations and had flocks of people all weekend milling around the modified metal.	After punishing the engine with a lead-footed burnout, the occupants of this Model A were treated to some fireworks from the exhaust.
Live music and prize give-aways kept the stage packed. Imagine women in swimwear instead of guys with mics, and you'd have the bikini contest. We missed it, so that's the best we can do.
